Fran Wilde appointed to Te Papa board

Former Wellington Mayor and MP Fran Wilde has been appointed to the board of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Maggie Barry announced today.

“With Ms Wilde’s extensive leadership and governance experience in the public and private sectors, I have no doubt she will make a valuable contribution to the important work of the Te Papa board,” Ms Barry says.

In addition to her experience as an MP, Mayor and Chair of the Greater Wellington Regional Council, Ms Wilde has been involved in the arts and education sectors throughout her career.

“This includes as Chair of the New Zealand International Arts Festival and director of the New Zealand School of Music, as well as serving on the Victoria University of Wellington Council and the Wellington Polytechnic Council,” Ms Barry says.

Ms Wilde joins seven other board members and takes up her three-year appointment today.
