Gambling Commission Reappointments

Internal Affairs Minister Peter Dunne today announced the reappointments of Graeme Reeves as the Chief Gambling Commissioner, and Wendie Harvey and Russell Bell as Gambling Commissioners to the Gambling Commission.

Mr Dunne said the reappointment of all three Commissioners would retain valuable governance experience and skills during a period of significant projects for the Commission.

Mr Reeves is a commercial lawyer experienced in commercial and property law, and employment issues. He was a Director of the Airways Corporation of New Zealand Ltd and has served as a trustee of the Wellington Community Trust and Director of New Zealand Post Ltd.

Ms Harvey is a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and has significant business and commercial governance experience. She previously practiced in commercial and employment law.

Mr Bell is a practising Chartered Accountant/Auditor and has specialist knowledge of the gambling sector. He has business and governance knowledge from management consultant roles.

The Gambling Commission is an independent statutory decision-making body. The Commission hears casino licensing applications, and appeals on licensing and enforcement decisions made by the Secretary of Internal Affairs in relation to gaming machines and other non-casino gambling activities.

The other Commissioners are Lisa Hansen of Wellington and Donna Matahaere-Atariki of Dunedin.
