HMNZS Canterbury has full load for voyage

Defence Earthquake Recovery

The Navy multi-role vessel HMNZS Canterbury arrived in Wellington early this evening and will sail at 5am tomorrow (Monday 28 February) for Lyttelton with a full load of relief cargo for earthquake-stricken Christchurch.

Her cargo includes:

• a fuel tanker (belonging to Chevron Mobil)
• four Telecom vans
• four pallets of Telecom equipment
• 20 DoC 4WD vehicles
• five Housing New Zealand 4WD vehicles
• two pallets of water
• two containers of bedding (Department of Corrections)
• medical backpacks (Ministry of Education)
• Army equipment including two Unimog trucks, a truck tractor and 12 Baily bridges
• four refrigerated containers
• three diesel generators.

She is expected to dock in Lyttelton at 5pm tomorrow.
