ITP Council Appointments
Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, Steven Joyce, today announced new and renewed appointments to five councils of Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs).
The appointments were made to the councils of the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki (WITT), the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT), the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand (Open Polytechnic), Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT), and Tai Poutini Polytechnic (TPP).
“I am pleased to reappoint a number of council members to new terms in recognition of the high-quality governance they have been providing to these institutions,” Mr Joyce says.
“Malcolm Inglis has been newly appointed as Deputy Chair of WITT. Mr Inglis’s strong background in management consultancy, particularly on strategic, financial and organisational development advice, will be a valuable addition to this council.”
Biographical details of new and renewed Council appointees
Mary Bourke (WITT)
Ms Bourke has been reappointed as the Chair of the Western Institute of Technology at Taranaki council for a four year term. Ms Bourke is a self-employed consultant specialising in governance and facilitation.
Malcolm Inglis (WITT)
Mr Inglis has been appointed as the Deputy Chair of the WITT council for a four year term. Mr Inglis is a management consultant providing strategic, financial and organisational development advice. Mr Inglis was previously appointed Crown Observer WITT to monitor risk associated with the institution, as well as being an Advisor to Waikato Institute of Technology. Mr Inglis is also the current Deputy Chair of the Universal College of Learning council.
Ross Butler (NMIT)
Mr Butler has been reappointed as the Chair of the NMIT council for a four year term. Mr Butler is a Nelson-based professional director and is also Chair of the Crown company, Southern Response Earthquake Services.
Dr Alan Barker (Open Polytechnic)
Dr Barker has been reappointed as the Deputy Chair of the Open Polytechnic council for a four year term. Dr Barker is a Senior Consultant with MartinJenkins and has extensive experience encompassing public sector reform, strategic planning, and organisational development including governance.
John Mote (CPIT)
Mr Mote has been reappointed as a member of the CPIT council for a four year term. Mr Mote has extensive experience in both the secondary and tertiary education sectors where he has held a number of senior positions. He is also a Ministerial appointment to the Tai Poutini Polytechnic council and a council appointee to NorthTec.
Barry Jones (TPP)
Mr Jones has been reappointed as a member of the TPP council for a two year term. Mr Jones is a management, transport and risk professional. His community governance experience includes the Buller Electric Power Trust and Buller High School Board of Trustees.
