New directors appointed to NZVIF board
Economic Development Minister Gerry Brownlee today announced two new directors for the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund.
Roger Bridge and Calvin Smith, both Christchurch businessmen, have been appointed to the NZVIF board for three years.
Mr Bridge has a property investment and management background. He has been involved in the formation and development of new business ventures, is a member of the NZ Institute of Directors and is on the board of the Christchurch Arts Festival Trust.
Mr Smith has a background in investment banking, focusing on currency derivatives and risk management. He owns and manages his own start-up business, and is an active investor in other start ups. He was previously managing director of Credit Suisse First Boston, based in London.
The NZVIF board is chaired by Sir John Anderson. The fund was established by the government to help build a vibrant venture capital market in New Zealand. It is investing $200 million into venture capital funds and alongside angel investment groups.
