Transport board members announced

Transport Minister Steven Joyce today announced the appointment of Rear Admiral David Ledson to Chair the board of Maritime New Zealand.  He also announced a number of recent reappointments to transport Crown entity boards.

Rear Admiral (Retired) David Ledson is appointed as Chair of the Board of Maritime New Zealand from 1 February 2010. Rear Admiral Ledson recently retired as Chief of the Royal New Zealand Navy after a 42 year career.

"Rear Admiral Ledson brings considerable leadership skills to the role, combined with strong governance and maritime experience."

The Minister also acknowledged the work of the incumbent Chair.

"I would like to thank Susie Staley for her ten years of leadership on the Maritime New Zealand Board."

In addition, the following reappointments have recently been made:

• Pauline Winter has been reappointed as Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission to November 2010.

• Richard Bettle has been reappointed as Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority Board to September 2012.

• David Morgan has been reappointed as Deputy Chair of the Maritime New Zealand Board to October 2012. Kenneth Gilligan has also been reappointed to the Maritime New Zealand Board to October 2011, and Michael Ludbrook to October 2012.
